5 Signs Of Cooling System Problems

Nowadays, vehicles are more complex than ever before and have a lot of different parts. The cooling system is an important part of any vehicle and must be properly maintained to avoid any costly repairs. In this blog, we’re going to discuss five warning signs indicating that your cooling system could be having problems.

1. OVERHEATING

The first and probably most obvious sign that your cooling system is having problems is if your vehicle is overheating. Overheating can be caused by a variety of issues, from a blocked radiator to a faulty thermostat or even air bubbles in the cooling system. Whatever the cause, it’s important to get your car checked out as soon as possible and address the issue before it causes any further damage.

2. SWEET-SMELLING EXHAUST FUMES

If you notice a sweet-smelling exhaust coming from your vehicle, it could be a sign that the engine is running too hot. Sweet-smelling exhaust is usually an indication of coolant leakage in the cylinders. You should get your car checked by a mechanic as soon as possible to avoid any further damage.

3. LEAKING FLUID

A puddle of fluid under your car or an odd discoloration on the ground is likely to be connected to the cooling system. This could be due to something as simple as a worn radiator cap or a more serious problem, such as a blown head gasket.

4. LOW COOLANT LEVELS

Checking your coolant levels should be a regular part of your car’s maintenance routine. Low coolant levels could be an indication that there is an issue somewhere in the system – a leak or coolant consumption in the cylinders. If your car is running low on coolant, get it checked out as soon as possible.

5. WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST

White smoke from your exhaust is usually a sign of a coolant leak. It will likely have a sweet smell to it, so if you notice it, a mechanic check-up is required. In comparison, the normal color it should have is clear or, in some cases, very transparent white because of the evaporated water.
